Preserving world cultural and historical heritage

Acquisition and restoration, in the spirit of the Hague Convention, of local or world heritage assets — buildings, works of art, collections — with no limit on scope.

Numerous projects concerning world heritage, in various regions of the world, have been proposed to the CIBP and are under consideration. Given the future establishment of its headquarters, specific protection is being envisaged for the historic State of Savoy.

The CIBP's commitment alongside a thousand-year-old Savoy

In accordance with its statutes on the protection of world cultural heritage, the CIBP has, since 2019, supported Savoyard actors working to restore their region under the auspices of international law. This heritage is admirably embodied by the Castle of the Dukes of Savoy, at the foot of which stands the statue of Joseph de Maistre, a passionate defender of the nation that saw him born — but also by the memory of Maître Philippe de Lyon, a native of the Chambéry region, summoned to the court of Tsar Nicholas II at the dawn of the 20th century as royal physician.

It is in this spirit that the International Circle lends its logistical support to showcasing the thousand-year-old heritage of Savoy, so that it may recover its full grandeur and renown.

What face emerges today from the outline of its fragmented body?
Its Land, its fire, its history were stolen from it — but not its soul…
It can at last be reborn after an ordeal endured for centuries. — Stéphanie Roch, "Sapaudie"
