Peace through Culture: a project of Nicholas Roerich, initiated with the 1935 Pact and taken up again in 1954.

Mission

  • Promote the Treaties & Protocols relating to the protection of international cultural heritage.
  • Foster peace and world unity through culture, of which the Banner of Peace is the inspiring symbol.

Pax Cultura promotes and assists in the deployment of the Banner of Peace — nicknamed by the ICRC "the Red Cross of Culture" — in order to secure the enforcement of the international treaties on the protection of world cultural heritage. Its objective is the establishment of an international cultural centre intended to raise awareness of spirituality, art and science, with an emphasis on sustainable development, education and universal rights.

Vision

Raising awareness through education in universal culture.

Pax Cultura is also a partner and member of the international community of the Earth Charter ↗, whose mission is to promote the transition to sustainable ways of life and a global society founded on a shared ethical framework: respect for and protection of the community of life, ecological integrity, universal human rights, economic justice, democracy and a culture of peace.
